Intro to the Blog

Since this blog is a new addition to my site, I thought it’d be worth making a quick “intro” post to describe the kind of stuff you can expect to read about on here, in future.

So, without further ado.

Who am I and what I’m about

The homepage of my website gives a pretty good overview of my experience and motivations. To cut a long story short, I’m a professional writer, who’s worked as a freelancer for years. I’ve written a lot of articles about fitness and nutrition-related topics in particular, but my interests are far broader than just those two subjects.

I’m into self-improvement in all areas of life, and I’m obsessed with myth, legend, and storytelling. I spend a lot of my time researching and experimenting with different techniques that might help me to become better, in some way, than I was the day before.

I’m currently working on a series of books, and that’s where most of my energy will be going. This blog will serve as a place for me to reflect on some of the things I’ve discovered, and some of the thoughts I’ve had, on the side. I’ll be running the blog both in order to help me organise my own ideas, and also to give folks something interesting to read and consider.

How this blog’s going to be different

While I don’t claim to be doing anything completely new with this blog, it’s worth pointing out that I’m not pushing “The One True Diet” or “The Total Unified Spiritual Solution”. I’m planning to take a pretty objective view on how I present things on here, and I’ll refer to studies, the work of other authors, and my own anecdotes as and when they seem relevant.

Although I wouldn’t mind if this blog helped me to get some exposure for the books I’m working on, I’m mostly treating it as a way of commenting on things that I find interesting, not as a hard-sell marketing gimmick.

As someone who’s been writing professionally for a while now, I’m well aware that a lot of what gets posted online is completely regurgitated. So, when I’ve got a different viewpoint on some popular trend, I’ll mention it.

How the blog’s going to be run

I’ll aim to update this blog once a week on average, and I’ll probably upload the posts towards the end of the working week. From time to time, I may post more often.

Facebook comments will be enabled on each post, along with the usual social media share buttons. If you’ve got something to say, feel free to say it.

Everything on this blog will be written by me alone, unless otherwise clearly stated. I won’t be running any sponsored posts, or accepting guest posts from digital marketers, under any circumstances.
